About Me

I was born in Fort McMurray, Alberta, and pursued post-secondary education at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta. Currently a Graduate Nurse, I am preparing to become a Registered Nurse and to transition into professional practice. In June 2010 I am making the move to Halifax, NS for my first nursing position. I am choosing to move to work in the Capital Health District Authority in Halifax because of their New Graduate transition program and their healthy workplace environment that supports nurses and nursing professional development. Up to this point in life, I have been a student leader, part of the leadership team for a non-profit organization that supports new graduate transition, a participant in groups for young leadership development, and have volunteered extensively with nursing organizations and for nursing student representation. About fourletterslater

Fourletterslater: Life beyond campus. My blog is about transition into professional practice. For me, this means the next steps after receiving the accreditation (four letters): BScN – Bachelor of Science in Nursing. My blog is not limited to nurses, health care, or new graduates; it will cover transition experiences that relate to graduates regardless of field of study, and professional development for young professionals for several years of life beyond campus. At what point do you become a seasoned professional? I have yet to hear anyone say that it is a moment in time; rather, it is a process, a transition – my personal journey will be captured in this blog, and I hope to offer a place for shared dialogue and interactions with those in their own transition, and anyone interested in supporting young professionals and leaders, and the transition into practice.
